Several routes so you can choose the most convenient one for you

When you enter a destination, Yandex Navigator will offer up to three different alternatives, usually prioritizing the fastest option. Before you set off, you will be able to compare the estimated duration, distance, and characteristics of each route. As a result, you won't have to automatically accept a single route. You can choose between saving time, traveling a shorter distance, or avoiding certain types of roads.

Avoid unnecessary holdups

One of Yandex Navigator's strengths is its ability to analyze the current traffic situation while calculating the route. The app will take into account traffic jams, accidents, road closures, roadworks, and other user-reported events. If traffic clears up or gets worse while you are driving, it can suggest a faster alternative route to reduce the time you spend behind the wheel. On top of that, during navigation, Yandex Navigator notifies you of upcoming turns, exits, and changes in direction. This way, you can follow the route without constantly checking the smartphone screen. You can configure and adjust the volume of the audible alerts, or limit them solely to cameras and road incidents.

Offline maps

Yandex Navigator also gives you the option to download maps of certain regions in advance. This means that, if you lose connection during the trip, navigation can continue from the saved map. However, in offline mode, real-time data on traffic, cameras, or incidents will be unavailable, as they require Internet access.

My thoughts after trying Yandex Navigator

Yandex Navigator is a solid alternative to Google Maps, offering everything you need to get from A to B as smoothly as possible. Due to the neat organization of the routes, lanes, remaining time, and traffic alerts, Yandex Navigator presents itself as a fairly comprehensive tool for driving in cities with heavy traffic.

The best and worst of Yandex Navigator

• What I liked most is its route calculation based on current traffic, lane guidance, and the option of choosing between several routes.

• What I liked least is that the experience can be quite inconsistent outside of its main countries.
